Philippines’ Team Secret missed out on VCT Masters Copenhagen after losing to Thailand’s Xerxia Esports, 2-1, in a nerve-racking rematch at the lower bracket finals of the 2022 Valorant Challengers Tour (VCT) Asia-Pacific (APAC) Stage 2 Challengers held virtually on June 26.
With the loss, Team Secret settled for a third-place finish with a USD 12,500 (~ PHP 680k) consolation prize from the USD 150,000 (~ PHP 8.2 million) prize pool.
Game 1 at Haven map saw Team Secret dominating Xerxia, stealing with a 13-3 round win.
In Game 2, the Thailand squad was able to tie the best-of-three series in a grueling 13-10 round victory in Ascent.
In the decider Game 3, Xerxia ultimately crushed TS, 13-8, to secure a slot for the Valorant Champions Tour 2022: Stage 2 Masters – Copenhagen.
