Globe Telecom encourages its customers to take advantage of tools available on their devices, such as built-in SMS spam filters or blockers, to reduce spam or scam messages from unknown senders.
If you’re getting flooded with unwanted text messages, Globe would like to share three easy steps to block these messages.
Android phone users can set up spam filters on their devices. You can do this by following these very simple steps:
- Go to Google Play Store and download Google’s “Messages” app.
- Set it as your default Android SMS messenger.
- Go to Settings and enable Spam Protection.
Should spam messages still get through, customers can report spam messages to Globe via https://ift.tt/cFE7Hm9 or to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) directly.
“While our cybersecurity team continues to work on anti-spam and anti-scam initiatives on the network side, customers can also make use of tools on their own devices to help protect themselves,” said Globe chief information security officer Anton Bonifacio.
Bonifacio further reminded the public to never open or click on links from unknown numbers or respond to spammers with personal information.

In response to the rising online activity caused by the epidemic, Globe continues to strengthen its customer protection and Internet safety activities. In 2021, the company blocked 1.15 billion scam and spam messages, around 7,000 cellphone numbers associated with scammers, and 2,000 unauthorized social media accounts and phishing websites.
Globe stops spam messages with a series of filters and threat intelligence systems that monitor inbound and outbound traffic for active spam campaigns and spammers.
Globe has already blacklisted 203 phishing sites in the first quarter of 2022, including 112 bank phishing sites and 91 GCash phishing sites impersonating the real pages of these organizations.
