Globe has recorded more than two million devices in its 5G network as of the end-March this year. This shows that many customers enjoy the new technology’s faster speeds, lower latency, and more reliable data service.
Globe 5G outdoor coverage now extends to at least 96% of the National Capital Region and 85% of key cities in Visayas and Mindanao.
Moreover, the digital solutions platform has allocated a significant portion of this year’s P89 billion in capital expenditures for the rollout of more 5G sites and in-building solutions, the upgrade of more cell towers to 4G LTE, the addition of more 4G cell sites, and the installation of more fiber to the home (FTTH) lines.
The company also has extensive international 5G roaming coverage and continues to partner with more 5G-capable telcos so that customers traveling abroad can continue to enjoy a convenient high-speed data roaming experience.
According to Ookla Speedtest Intelligence data from the first quarter of 2022, Globe’s 5G speed is now three times faster than mobile WiFi. Globe recorded a 5G median download speed of 121.29 Mbps for the first quarter of the year, compared to 42.95 Mbps for all fixed providers in the Philippines.
It also won Opensignal’s 5G Video Experience Award with a score of 71.2 points. This means Globe was able to provide its customers with the best video streaming experience over 5G networks. The report was based on information gathered between January 1 and March 31 of this year.
